MTonal Music is a full-service music company, founded in 2001 by Mark Tonelli. MTonal Music's services include performing ensembles, composition and arrangement, educational materials, and instrument lessons. MTonal Music is also the umbrella organization for all that Mark and The Mark Tonelli Group do.
MTonal Music has been responsible for the release of The Mark Tonelli Group's two critically-acclaimed recordings The Mark Tonelli Group and Chasing The Myth and is preparing the release of the third, The Thread
MTonal Music has produced three guitar instructional books. The MTonal Guitar Method , by Mark Tonelli, is a complete beginner's method that takes students step-by-step through the basics of learning the guitar. Used by literally hundreds of students, it was the text for Mark Tonelli's Guitar Class I at North Lake College. Fifth Position Studies, by Mark Tonelli, is a scale-study book designed to teach guitarists to read in the important fifth position area of the guitar. Total Jazz Guitar is a complete method of learning jazz guitar. It covers the three core areas- comping, chord melody, and improvisation- in a step-by-step approach that anyone with a basic knowledge of the guitar can grasp. Total Jazz Guitar is currently in production stages and will be available soon.
Specializing in jazz and guitar music, MTonal Music offers creative services for recording or live performance, working with artists and companies to provide new music for their projects. MTonal Music is also the publishing company for the award-winning compositions appearing on The Mark Tonelli Group CD's.
Jazz and music theory lessons are available through MTonal Music, taught by Mark. Mark is an adjunct professor of music at St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, NY, and has taught at North Lake College in Irving, TX; Colling County College in Plano, TX; the William Paterson University Summer Jazz Workshop, and as a teaching fellow at the University of North Texas. He has been the director of the West Point Jazz Festival, a frequent clinician, magazine columnist, and author of numerous educational articles.
MTonal Music handles the performance schedule of The Mark Tonelli Group, which has received praise for its live performances and informative educational clinics. The Mark Tonelli Group plays original music and jazz classics in a variety of settings: jazz festivals, clubs, restaurants, cafes, corporate and private functions, and clinics. The Mark Tonelli Group is available as a jazz solo guitar, duo, trio, quartet and quintet.
